About Us
history of J.Phillip, Inc.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
J.Phillip, Inc. is our publishing name. We are a privately owned publishing company based in Delaware, OH, about 20 minutes north of Columbus, Ohio. Our goal is to provide accurate and interesting secondary market information to collectors in order to help them organize and appraise their own collections. Currently, we service eight different collectibles by providing tools to help the collector identify and value the items they either own, or would like to own.
history of The Bentley Collection®
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Those in the Longaberger community know us as 'The Bentley Collection'. We are completely independent of The Longaberger Company® and provide the only comprehensive collectors guide for Collectors, Consultants and Enthusiasts of Longaberger Baskets. Established in 1993, we once provided our information only through an annual publication called 'The Bentley Collection Guide'. This book provided information in print format for Longaberger baskets and accessories, wrought iron, pottery, event items and awards from 1979 to the current year. The last printed Bentley Guide was the 2008-2009 16th Edition. We can not say that we will NEVER print a book again, but at this time there are no plans to do so. We continue to research Longaberger as a collectible and provide current secondary market information through our BentleyOnline service. The information provided through our Online service includes all of the same information once provided in the Bentley book (full-color individual photographs, complete product details and accurate secondary market values), actually the online has MUCH MORE as we are not limited by the space of pages in a book.
history of The Collectibles Database®
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Along with the Bentley Collection Guide, J.Phillip, Inc. also publishes the information provided for The Collectibles Database® Online. Originally, before the move to online, The Collectibles Database was a software program originally developed by MSdataBase Solutions out of Virginia. In November 1999, we purchased this software and added it to our quality lineup of products. The software was specifically designed by collectors, for collectors and has been a successful inventory tool for collectors since the early 90s. We moved everything to the online, web-based format in 2005. For customers who still have inventory in the older software format, we have had great success converting old back-ups over into the online format. It depends greatly on the back-up you have. To find out more, you can email us directly at convert@jphillip.com, or contact us through the other help options offered on the site.
Collectibles Database Online will allow you to search a database of original product information to locate the items in your collection. With just a click of the mouse, you can create an inventory of your items helping to organize and appraise your items right from the comfort of your own computer screen. There is no need to spend endless hours manually entering this information. Just locate the item in our database, click a button and all of the information (full-color photos, product details, original prices, dimensions, years offered and current market values) is automatically saved to your inventory list. It's as easy as that! Spend as much time as you would like in the customize screen where specific details such as the year purchased, purchase price, features, signatures, etc can be recorded. Once an inventory is started, access to custom, full-function reports gives you the power to review and keep your information in report format. This is wonderful for insurance purposes or to help you organize to get ready for a sale. Actually makes the process of getting organized fun!!
Currently, Collectibles Database Online is available for eight different collectibles: Boyds Plush, Boys Resin, Cherished Teddies, Dept 56 Villages, Dept 56 Snowbabies, Hallmark Ornaments, Longaberger Baskets and Precious Moments. If you collect something we do not research, you can still use our service to help you organize ANY item by using the 'manual add' feature. Very easy! Very fun!
