Report won't print

Troubleshooting

SORRY YOU'RE HAVING TROUBLE!

There are many things that can hinder printing.  Below are some suggestions to help troubleshoot the issue.

 

 

CHECK YOUR PRINTER

The first thing we suggest is to check your printer to make sure it’s not throwing an error of some kind.  Often printers will stop because the paper is not loaded straight or it’s asking for ink or a new printer head.  If nothing seems to be wrong, maybe try printing a page from another website just to see if the issue is isolated to our site.

REPORT IS REALLY BIG

If you have a large collection, it could take a little time for all the information to download or spool to your printer, especially if your internet connection is slower.  If this is the case, maybe first trying to print a smaller report in either length or content.  For example, select a specific collection or maybe try a report that only has a few of the fields checkmarked.  Fields that can cause more download time are the larger fields such as photos or descriptions.

CHECK YOUR INTERNET

If the smaller reports work fine, then it is most likely an issue of the size of report and the amount of information you are wanting on the report.  A couple suggestions:

  1. Check your internet connection.  You must have a connection to print a report.  If your connection is interrupted during printing, it might be necessary to cancel the job and restart.  Not all printers have the capacity to save a report to print once connection is remade.
  2. Try again another day, maybe at another time in the day. Sometimes our connections are just having a hard day.
  3. Try first saving the report as a PDF file and then printing.  Most operating systems offer the ability to SAVE AS PDF either from the FILE/SAVE menu or from within your printer dialog.  What this does is it forces the formation to spool quickly into a document which can then be printed at one time, rather than trying to spool and print one page at a time, which often causes the connection to time-out.
